I’ll take and take… until I’ve had every last drop of her soul. 

Some people have morals; others bleed integrity. I’d like to believe I don’t know the meaning of either. In this cut-throat business of blood spilled on the ice, I have left enough bodies behind to fill a morgue. When they see me skating at them, they run the other way. This reputation of mine costs, and I’m willing to pay up. Equipped with a stick of gold and a rock-solid contract, I believe I’m in control of the game.

Until one day, I find out I’m not. Until that one godforsaken day I end up back where it all started: Home. 

It turns out monsters of the past don’t die when ignored. They lurk in the shadows until they smell desperation. If there’s a man on this earth worse than me, it’s my little brother. Yet, he hasn’t tasted the delicious nectar of glory. While I broke record after record, he never left the league’s basement. He lusted for my life from afar as I ascended the throne of greatness. Now that I’m back home, I should make friends with him. I’d rather let him bathe in misery. 

My insufferable little brother may not have a lot, but he has a wife I’d kill for. I wouldn’t be quite the man I am if I let him keep her. 

It’s just too bad that my rookie, my goalie, and my best defender want her too.
